Working the Phones: The Game is a short, interactive experience about working in a call centre. It is based on Jamie’s book Working the Phones: Control and Resistance in Call Centres. The book can be downloaded and read for free here and you can also read reviews here too. It is part of the Notes from Below special issue on Call Centres. While not meant to be “fun” in a conventional sense, it is an attempt to bring some of those experiences of working the phones to life. See how long you can last in a high-pressure sales call centre. As one player commented: "This was so horrifically like my summer working in a call centre it's eery"
This is a game inspired by workers' inquiry. It was made for the #WorkersGameJam. Built with GameMaker Studio 2 and based on Jaime Chan's 'Point & Click - Adventure Game'
In this short game, you have just started organising at work. It is a card swiping decision game, in which you can swipe left and right to make decisions. Each decision effects "workers' power", "capital's power", "the state", and "your resources" - the consequences of each decision will effect these in different ways. Make choices and then lead towards a strike!
